One of the most common questions we get from customers is:
What Size Dumpster Do I need for my project?
Most companies out there won't put much effort in assisting average homeowners in making the right choice when renting a dumpster.
The size of a dumpster can be influenced by several factors, which are important to consider depending on your specific needs and constraints.
These sizes can vary slightly depending on the dumpster rental company, but they generally provide a good guideline for estimating the right size dumpster for your needs. It's important to consider the factors mentioned below to determine the most appropriate size for your specific project.

A Cubic Yard is the size of a Cube with length, width, and height of 3 ft or 36 inches as shown in the picture. You can calculate cubic yardage by taking all 3 dimensions of the cube, multiplying them and dividing by 27 — so in this case 3 ft × 3 ft × 3 ft ÷ 27 = 1 Cubic Yard. Converting Ft into Yards will give you an idea of what size dumpster you need.
Example: If you have debris that measures 12 Ft in Length, 6 Ft in Width, and 4 Ft in Height, the same formula applies. 12 × 6 × 4 = 288 ÷ 27 = 10.6 Cubic Yards.
Your final order will be a 10 yard dumpster.
Certain types of waste may require special handling or specific types of dumpsters (e.g., hazardous waste, construction debris).
The volume of waste you need to dispose of is a primary factor. Larger quantities require bigger dumpsters.
The area where the dumpster will be placed affects the size that can be accommodated. Consider access for delivery and removal as well.
How long you need the dumpster will impact the size and type. Short-term projects might require smaller dumpsters that can be emptied more frequently.
Larger dumpsters generally cost more than smaller ones, so your budget will influence the size you choose.
Consider logistical factors like pickup frequency, ease of loading, and transportation costs associated with larger dumpsters.
